MYOFASCIAL UNWINDING

Myofascial Unwinding

Abolish PAIN...DYSFUNCTION... IMBALANCE... with MYOFASCIAL UNWINDING

Myofascial Unwinding is a therapeutic pathway to the physical and emotional release of the many stresses we experience from birth. The steps to success are facilitated by a physical therapist, but the physical postures are performed by the patient.

The "unwinding" is a filter between yesterdays issues and the impact those issues have on our bodies, minds and souls in todays world. Actions that create injury become predictable due to our habits and individual style of dealing with stress, loss, disease and physical injury.

As a physical therapist with many years experience, using Myofascial Release, I have assisted my patients in significantly reducing or abolishing pain, dysfunction and imbalance.

"It is quite common and expected to cry, moan or actually scream."

The human body has fascia, a collagen "covering" from head to toe. The white filmy connective tissue that we see covering a chicken is fascia. Myofascial restriction occurring from trauma, surgery or inflammatory process, and disease causes the fascia to tighten and thus create problems with underlying structures. These restrictions create pain and dysfunction. Aging can magnify these restrictions. Fascial restriction can produce pressure of 2000 pounds per square inch which is an enormous amount of pressure on underlying nerves, blood vessels, muscles and bones. Tension headaches and migraines are common examples of fascial restriction. Myofascial Release will usually be necessary to previous "unwinding".

Pain results when energy is thrust into the body. Without release, this pain accumulates and manages to find a way to communicate negatively within the body.

Conditions such as fibromyalgia, sports injuries, headaches, chronic pain, and neck and back injuries are some diseases and conditions that significantly increase pain and reduce function.

The actual process of myofascial unwinding is a memorable experience. Emotional energy is often released verbally, and during an unwinding, it is quite common and expected to cry, moan or actually scream. The pent up energy from many years of pain and stress has a great deal of power. The catharsis is a tremendous release of negative energies. - By Bobbie Friedman P.T.
