Obstacles are a Factor in the Formula for Success

Posted May 09

Did this guy quit because of obstacles?Welcome the Challenge of Obstacles in the Equation for Success

Cherish obstacles and failure! They are an important part of success. Every single time a basketball player goes out on the court, he knows he's facing a whole team full of obstacles (usually tall ones, at that). Would the sport of basketball be even remotely exciting were it not for the challenge? Sports are evidence that we, as humans, love the overcoming of obstacles. But one cannot overcome them if they do not exist. Why resist them?

Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, pointed out that quite often, the people closest to you would be the first to to try to stop you from changing and/or becoming successful. (I found that to be true!)Whether you percieve people or circumstances as obstacles, Hills message is to allow no obstacle to stand in your way! Hill asserts:

The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail.

What did other "Greats" say?...

Zig Ziglar...

You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.

Albert Einstein...

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.

Abe Lincoln...

Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then... find the way.

Martin Luther King Jr...

He who waits until circumstances completely favor his undertaking will never accomplish anything.

Syrus...

It's a bad plan that can't be changed.

Ross Perot...

Something in human nature causes us to start slacking off at our moment of greatest accomplishment.  As you become successful, you will need a great deal of self-discipline not to lose your sense of balance, humility, and commitment.

Dale Carnegie...

Flaming enthusiasm, backed up by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success.

Thomas Edison...

Be courageous. I have seen many depressions in business. Always America has emerged from these stronger and more prosperous. Be brave as your fathers before you. Have faith! Go forward!

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Then...

Listen to the hints from the universe! Listen to your intuition! Whatever you do... follow the hints, allow your intuition to guide you...

LISTEN TO THE MUSTN'TS

Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child,

Listen to the DON'TS

Listen to the SHOULDN'TS

The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON'TS

Listen to the NEVER HAVES

Then listen close to me--

Anything can happen, child,

ANYTHING can be.

~ from Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

BELIEVING + CONTRIBUTION + PLANNING + FAILURE + FLEXIBILITY + DETERMINATION + GRATITUDE = SUCCESS

... In Business and in Life
