The Anti-Aging Biz
An interview with Rawlins of Nu U Med Spa
Med Spas ~ The Business of Anti Aging
An Interview with Rawlins Apilado of Nu U Medspa
Since 2002 with the introduction of mesotherapy* to the United States the anti-aging industry has been in full swing. With everyone wanting to find the “fountain of youth” people have been flocking to the doctors’ office, plastic surgeon, or to Med spas for a chance in feeling and looking younger.
*Mesotherapy is the process of micro-injecting traditional medication, homeopathic medication, and vitamins into the middle layer of the skin, targeting specific areas of the body as opposed to oral medications that spread throughout the body.
I sat down with Rawlins Apilado, Customer Service and Human Resource Director of Nu U Medspa, and asked him a few questions about the Medspa industry...
Q: What do you think attracts people to a Med spa?
A: It’s different for everyone and it’s also special to everyone. It would be too arrogant on our part to say there’s one thing that attracts people to a Medspa. That’s why Nu U Medspa offers Free Consultations. During this process, we discover and uncover what the concerns are to the client. It is then we can customize a tailored package to his/her needs.
Q: What do you think people are looking for in a Med spa?
A: An environment that they can feel comfortable in, a staff that they can feel a part of, qualified and licensed professionals they can trust in, and a company they can believe in.
Q: What are the positives about a Medspa?
A: Most Medspas have a variety of services that a customer can choose from. It’s an alternative approach to the permanence of Plastic Surgery. What Nu U Medspa specializes in is offering a myriad of services that work towards the goal(s) of the client within a budget specific to them. Nu U Medspa works with what the body already has to offer and rejuvenates it.
Q: What are the negatives about a Medspa?
A: With the recent popularity of Medspas more and more Doctors and Entrepreneurs are trying to join in on the wave. Unfortunately, the medspa industry isn’t as straight forward as most people think. There might be positive results in the beginning, but it’s the challenges of most businesses in their first year that compromises their stability. What ends up happening in the long run is that the client ends up losing out. We don’t feel good when competitors are unsuccessful. It’s not a message that we want to send out to the public.
With the increase in demand for a better youthful appearance it looks as though the anti-aging industry is here to stay. ~ Dr. Jennifer Burns, NMD
